Head of Senusret III



The Head of Senusret III fascinated me because this portrait shows the true character of a leader during the middle kingdom. Earlier ruler figures such as Khafre seem to not have any hardship or concern in their expression. I think the rulers of today can empathize with Senusret, there are a lot of uncertainties facing the leaders of the free world. Maybe not the same stresses Senusret experienced during his time of rule but i can see the emotional strain in our leaders faces and expressions much like the strain in Senusret III's portrait.

but interesting that today it wasn't always fashionable to show expression and human feeling ...until some candidates started realizing that humanity makes one more likeable and one more approachable...
